About me

I am currently a 4th year PhD student in the Department of Psychology at Rice. My area of specialization is Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience. I received my second Master’s degree from Rice University this year.

Back home, I completed my Masters’ in Psychology from the University of Calcutta. I taught at Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College and West Bengal State University till I moved back into grad school. Teaching was a great experience and I got a chance to view the world from ‘the other side’! I took these experiences into my stride and have taught 3 summer courses over my 4 years at Rice.

Life at Rice has been very different from what it used to be. I try to give back by doing my bit. I am currently involved as the GSA representative of the Psychology department and a student representative on the Social Science Advisory Board.

A little over 22 hours is how long it took me to get to Houston, Texas, from my hometown in India. The transition from graduate student to faculty back to grad life across the oceans has been an exciting experience. At the end of 4 years, I can safely conclude that this is really a great place to be in!
